Hey Rob (and possibly-lurking LK, and anyone else interested)...it's the end of a (41-year) era. Observing my own personal moment of silence at the moment:

Wow. I'm shocked. And depressed. I'm on this board thanks to Xgau - he introduced me to the GBs – and no one has had a bigger influence (by a long shot) on my music-listening habits. I don't know how many records I buy every year based on his recommendations, most I'd probably never find on my own. For me, this is a loss. Hope he still does a year-end list.

Likewise for me, Rob, on every one of those particulars.

There's a little followup on his blog,

http://www.najp.org/articles/

which clarifies that it was MSN's choice to end the column. Though he doesn't say it directly, it seems that that choice have prompted his own. He could've certainly found a new home for the CG, but he was obviously feeling weary himself, and so he took it as a sign...

And glad to see that he got over his feelings of burnout...

I first became aware of him from this poll, and I promptly bought all ten in the top ten that I didn't already have plus most of the others that were outside the top 10:

Did you find "Of Human Feelings," Michael? Took me forever to get my hands on that.

I recall making do with a dub from a library cassette for quite awhile before finding a used vinyl copy.

Rob, I bought a vinyl copy from one of the many Harmony House record store locations in metro Detroit way back in 1983. It's in pristine condition as I just played it a month or so ago. I never bought a CD copy of it. It would be nice if some lable released a remastered CD sometime soon.

I found a CD copy, and I don't remember where or when. It was used for sure, and I'm sure I was surprised and delighted to find it. Great record.
