anyone else think it's verging on criminal that the "Field of Glass" and "Raining Pleasure" EPs are not available on CD in their entirety? (I know there's "Love in Bright Landscapes" with some of the tracks) What a great two-fer that'd make. Actually, if anyone has ever taken the time to digitise those songs from vinyl, please drop me an email ... I'd love them on my iPod as I['m going though this huge Triffids kick right now.

The Triffids where a great band I think much better live then on record. Lucky enough to have seen them twice live. Once in the Cathedral Club in Dublin Ireland around the time of Calenture. They blew the roof off the place. Another time in London at the Dominion Theatre (??) when the Black Swan was released. Superb on both occasions. I agree alot of their best work never made it to CD.

Triffids rereleases are coming up - remastered and expanded apparently. No details as to the extras although I'm obviously hoping that the EPs are going to be included.

Starting with Born Sandy Devotional on May 6th and the rest in two tranches during 2006.

I'm excited I can tell you!

I've just checked and it's mid to late May for BSD. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the info Eke. BSD really needs remastering. I'm hoping they remix it. And I'd love to hear those EPs, because I never have.

Good to hear about the Triffids reissues, as I haven't been able to locate an affordable copy of "Born Sandy Devotional." The only Triffids album I've heard is "In The Pines," which doesn't seem like the place for a neophyte to start.

Calenture is available from Amazon (U.S.) for $11.99...After seeing the level of devotion expressed on this board, I felt it'd be prudent to scoop it up, so I did!

Well, it'll be interesting to see what comes out with each album. Certainly, it'd be nice to see "Raing Pleasure" and "Field of Glass" as a two-fer in their own right, rather than tacked on as bonus tracks.

Hardin, I'm glad you've ordered it. I only got it on CD last year, but I had it on vinyl for years. I'm not a vinyl purist by any stretch, but I have to say I prefer it on record. But it's a great album regardless of format.

By the way, new records come out on Mondays in Ireland, the UK and Australia. And yes, I do sometimes get excited about Mondays for that. But never as excited as I used to be about Thursdays which is when Melody Maker got to Ireland from London every week when I a callow youth.

Domino are the label for everywhere apart from Australia so it should be a good job well done if their history is anything to go by. The Fire Engines CD is the dog's bollocks as far as I'm concerned.

There are also a couple of gigs by the remaining original members lined up in Belgium and Holland if any of you lucky people are there in June this year.

Great news, Eke, especially the bonus tracks. Domino's Orange Juice comp, which I just bought about a week ago, is a terrific job. Where do the first 4 bonus tracks come from? Is that one of the EPs?

All previously unreleased apart from the two B-Sides. Some more info gleaned from thetriffids.com:-

"Some are solo performances into a cassette recorder by their writer, some are rehearsal room recordings, some portastudio demos. The intent was to give some kind of insight into the breadth of Dave's talent and the dedication he applied to the process of writing."

There's a new Triffids video - strange but true - here if anyone's interested.
