Someone in another thread mentioned the poor sound quality encountered in the Astoria, London. I was also at that GoBs gig last year. Actually I feel strongly about this as I was there again on Sunday (seeing Mudhoney, another perceived "failed" band) and couldn't hear a single riff. It's quite obvious that the same PA is used there for both gigs and DJ sets at "discos". Now we all know that a single corporation has an essential stranglehold on London venues yet nothing appears to have been done about the acoustics in any of them (I give you the Forum; I saw Fugazi there not so long ago, now their guitar licks are quite subtle, so that was a complete waste of time!). Does anyone else feel just as livid about this? Of course, none of these arguments apply to the Barbican! | ||

Having never been to the Barbican can anyone tell me whether i'll need binoculars while watching from the back row, or is it reasonably intimate? | ||

When Kraftwerk played in the Olympia (Dublin venue) recently, I saw somebody watching the concert through a pair of binoculars ! | ||

I was at the back row for a Will Oldman concert at the Barbican last year. I could see fairly well. If I had have had binoculars with me I would have used them occasionaly. If you have a pair there's no harm in bringing them along. | ||

I'd say there'll be a few at the Barbican up on the sides with monocles peering at the show. I don't think its a stadium so hopefully wont need the binoculars. |
