helicopter - deerhunter

song of the year for me.

its such a chilled, blissed out song.

on another thread i was bemoaning the fact that the tracklisting of halcyon digest wasnt great. listening to the album this morning, in an all to rare these days hungover state, it just sounds perfect so maybe its a classic sunday morning lp. and helicopter being placed pretty much slap bang in the middle just sounds amazing.

Stereolab - Tone Burst

The song that hooked me on them back in 1993.

Elizabeth Cook - Girlfriend Tonight

There's no belting or other verbal pyrotechnics going on - in fact, quite the opposite. But it's still 100% apt to say that she sings the hell out this song.

My Peel Sessions CD finally showed up yesterday. What great performances. Too bad there are only four numbers!

Does anyone know why the CD/album didn't have a shot of Robert Vickers on the cover? ATPIT of the Peel recording it was well over a year since he had joined them.

warning from the Dept Of Foreign affairs - This mightn't translate too well.

I've linked to it elsewhere here Peter! And I've just done my bit to get it to No 1 by buying it on iTunes!

I think it will translate though. Everyone I've shown the video to in Australia cracks up at it!

Padraig, last year there was an unsuccessful but gallant campaign to get Christmas Card From A Hooker in Minneapolis by Tom Waits to No1 here thru well timed itunes purchasing. This could go all the way over the traditional x factor no1.
Their Republic of Telly stuff can be hit and miss but I cracked up when I heard this piece of pure solid fineshht hip hop.

The Waterboys - This Is The Sea. Brilliant version, almost 11 minutes long, from Amsterdam in 1997.
