http://www.hockwold.info/seance/gobs/barbican/index.htm GREAT Show Sunday night at the Barbican in London… I didn't know what to expect from such an unusual venue (concert hall rather!) but it worked…the audience were a little quiet and restrained at the start and possibly could feel the slight nervousness of the band but warmed as the band did (Though I felt half way through that some would have wanted to get down to the front and have a boogie!!). The string section were wonderful and really added a fabulous dimension to the songs in the second set. Highlights were the all the Tallulah songs (especially the gorgeous Bye Bye Pride with "that" oboe); Cattle and Cane (1st I've heard that song live and what a version!); and the last song of the night In The Core Of The Flame. Surfing Magazines and German Farmhouse I felt were a bit gimmicky for this type of show. Nige |
