Just wondered if anyone had ideas for the potential new single cover photo. I thought of Robert driving an old Roadmaster (red) London bus and Grant conducting on the back cover (bus conducting that is). If they do the shoot in Brisbane perhaps leaning against a toyota landcruiser looking down over Brisbane from Mt Cootha. | ||

I hate to be boring...but from my gig memory and from an interview with RF in a Dublin music rag the title is Here Comes A City. And it should have been recorded in the studio on Monday. They might have recorded different versions of it, as speaking to RF after the Barbican gig he said they were going to see how they could make it work, which suggests trying out different styles, tempos etc. However, it is a cracking song which has a great youthful urgency about it which reminds me of their early stuff. God, I should just get a life. | ||

You're correct on the title, carl. I managed to get a setlist in Dublin, and its down as Here Comes A City. I like the Brisbane idea for the single artwork, but personally I'd go for one of those big old trucks, preferably rusty. Grant is leaning against the door, Robert sitting crosslegged on the roof. | ||

I recall seeing a picture somewhere, where Grant is in a floral dress, ironing (!) Think Robert was also. | ||

If I remember correctly, the picture of Robert and Grant in dresses is a shot from the early days. Robert and Grant are doing the housework; Lindy is reading the paper, sitting cross-legged with feet on table and suppin' a brewski (sorry, I'm not an Aussie). I'm pretty sure it's reproduced in David Nichols' book. I'm also sure that it's reproduced in one of those supplements from the Beggars Banquet reissues of 1996. | ||

So that's where I saw it... Haven't read David Nichol's book yet (sorry David, I'm new to the message board, didn't know the book existed!)but it's on order from my friendly local bookshop, and should be ready for collection any day... | ||

Two pictures in the book of the boys in dresses and Lindy with beer and newspaper in one shot. From Melbourne early 80s. Looks like Carlton Light which I think sends the right message to the kids, not sure about the cigarette and the dressses though. At least shave your legs Robert and wax your chest Grant. | ||

Is "Here Comes a City" being released as as single? Call me greedy, but just thinking b-sides? Ceefax on C4 mentioned last week Robert had penned two new songs not on the lp.....or maybe more live tracks from the Barbican? | ||

I believe that several other songs would be far better as single releases than "Here comes a city" - e.g. "Finding You" or "Lavender" for example. As for B-sides, much prefer studio tracks than live stuff. Go-Between studio B-sides are usually of very high quality. |
