Potato: I think Head Full of Steam is my favourite song ever. Anyone agree? Mack Wellsley: I feel that way sometimes, well all the time I suppose. It reminds me of one of my best go-betweens theories which I'm hoping to get published in the Journal of Semiotics of the Go-Betweens Lyrics. My theory is that every go-betweens song is like the beauty of a Pythagorean Triangle. It involves the verse and the bridge or two verses if you will, being doubled or squared with tangentially applied energy to equal the chorus when square rooted. To explain this further Potato, For example in your favourite song Potato - if you take the yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh at the start of the song and double it you get - 10 yehs - right. So sweet isn't it. Then the line - A fool's dream - which needs to be squared. This is just my theary and the next bit is hard to understand but if you take the 10 yehs and add them to the fool's dream squared (which equals 4) you get 104 degrees. I'll write it out for you. 10 (yeh) + 4 (A fool's dream squared) = 104 degrees. Energy (guitars, Lindy drums, Robert dancing) Kinda neat isn't. Cucumber: Nice work Mack, Does this work for every song though? Anonymous: I think the theory is crap Anonymous: Me two, I'm someone else Anonymous: Me three, I'm someone else as well John; They've never had a nickname but nor have I Mack Wellsley: You don't have to like my theory but if you are not going to solicitude my tangantial world you can go back to your petty objections and keep posting them so I can deride you further with a hammer which I will outline. 1. Anonymous one you should elaborate on the word crap which is a weak character line of reasoning. 2. Anon 2 get a nickname, 3. Anon 3 you have an identity crisis brewing. Potato: I've got a nickname Cucumber: I love you Mack, even if they don't, keep up the think tank Mack Wellsley: Thanks for the support Cuckie Anonymous: Anyone got a bootleg of the Barbican gig? |

Funny, Mack Wessley's Go-Bs Pythagorean Triangle theory reads a lot like the song breakdown section of my guitar tabs. |

Mack Wellsley: Yes Pete I had noticed that, more evidence for my theory I suppose. Anonymous: I can't stand this. Cucumber: I can play the triangle Potato: Pete, I was reading your tab just now but I put it upside down and found another song, perhaps the second side of the triangle Mack? Anonymous: I suppose the hypotenuse is somewhere in David Nichols book. Mack Wellsley: Which anonymous is that with the theory? The lemming or the lentil anonymous I'm actually David Nichols, |

Thanks Michael. I've been laughing for weeks but that was superb. Gave me new inspiration. (pssssst! It's really is me btw, but don't acknowledge this. Cichli said so for Christ's sake!) |

A prophet is neither recognised in their home town nor on the mailboard they contribute to. Shake the dust off your keyboard Michael and move on, we are unworthy. |
