Does anyone know when the Go-Betweens are going to play again in Brisbane? What are Grant and Robert doing at the moment?

Robert was at the Peter Loveday (Antic Frantic/Tiny Town) show in Brisbane a couple of weeks back. John Willsteed was in his backing band.

By backing band, I mean Peter Loveday's. It was a very enjoyable set. Robert didn't play.

It was annoying for me that the week I was in Barcelona Peter Loveday, the only person I know who lives in Barcelona, was in Melbourne playing a show. I heard it went really well. Dave Graney and Clare Moore were there. Peter's backing band in Melb was Ian Wadley and Henry Wagons.

Can I just say that I apologise for the distress caused to all by starting this thread. I had no desire to stir up such anger.

On a not-unrelated note, another Brisbane institution (of sorts), the Pits, are playing this Saturday 28 August in Brisbane with Jeffrey Wegener on drums.

On a not-unrelated note, I don't understand Conor's posting, and on yet another not-entirely-unrelated note, I just came into possession of Peter Fenton's album which includes a contribution from Amanda Brown (strings) on one track.

Is that the Peter Fenton that was in the band Crow? Is the album any good?

I may be thinking of the wrong person.

That'd be the one, pups. On a related note, Fenton starred in the film version of "Praise", based on the novel ny Andrew McGahan who we have discussed a couple of times before on this MB. I also recall that he started in some TV show on ABC just after Crow broke up, though the name of that show escapes me.

I saw Peter Fenton the other week at Ric's Bar in Brisbane. Played two sets aided by a chap called David Lane (not the ostentatious tablature transcriber for You Am I). Covered 'Love and Mercy', and Ween's 'It's Gonna Be (Alright)'. That Fenton song, 'Love Makes Everything Swell' is a corker!
