Just had a scary thought. Do you think Roberts visits the Messageboard? Imagine he did, would he be entertained, appalled, bored, maybe even proud?
If he was a regular visitor, what would he think of us?
"That Kevin guy, jeez dont take music so seriously, give it a rest. And as for the World Cup thread, he came across as a right dickhead.
Spence, what a sweet kooky guy, talented too.
Randy, now theres a wise man who's been there, done it got the t shirt.
Hardin? needs to stop talking about his man boobs.
And Abigail, hell thats a miserable old bastard :-) (hey, she said it, not me)
Padraig, now if only all of them could post as eloquently as him.
You got to love Andreas, always apologising for his grammar. but which of them can speak German? I can, and I've got a German farmhouse so there.
That Kurt guy sure knows a lot about music, bet he's a musician."

Personally I dont think he does visit. I like to think of him as a bit of a luddite who prefers letter writing or phone calls as a way of communicating.
But you never know

Funny thread Kev! And original!

Mmmm., I wonder. Maybe in a sad way the death of Grant and the mammoth tributes on the board since his passing that may have opened his eyes to this pretty dedicated community of die hards, general well wishers, passers by etc. That this exists online must be quite intriguing for an artist such as Robert. It may also act as a form of therapy. However I like the thought was sort of expressed in the DVD, that he will reamain a technophobe, you know, travelling round to Grant's with a guitar in the car rather than Protooling song ideas and e-mailing them, and thus not bothering to go online.

Kev your too kind in my description, love your own!!!!! I always loved the line "maybe its our kookiness" in Suede's greatest ever moment, the single Trash.

I hope he doesn't. It seems that artists that are overly involved with their fans (blogging and posting in fan forums) tend to be megalomaniacs. The ones who do not seem to be more balanced and more put together.

Robert seems, to me, to be anti-megalo.

And I wouldn't want our comments to affect his art. Overthink it, etc.

Lord, I hope he has better things to do! Like working on a new album. Somehow, if he does though, I'm guessing he's not a humorless prig...

Of course I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty confident Robert doesn't read the message board for the reasons Matthias said. Reading fan boards seems more like something insecure or unstable people like Courtney Love or Ryan Adams would do.

Kev's original message is hilarious, though. But I'm guessing Robert would be thinking, "that Kevin, why does he hate my beloved 16LL so?" and "Kurt is obviously a guy who knows NOTHING about music but likes to pretend he does."

Lloyd Cole contributes to his MB, he even sent a message to RF through the tributes pages & plugged his own site into the bargain.

Kevin, you are too kind. I'll happily accept the kudos though!

I heard a long time ago that Grant did not look at the site (not least because he had no computer) but Robert occasionally did. Robert certainly looked at it after Grant died.

After the Vicar Street show in 2004 I asked Robert if he ever looked at the website. He said he didn't for the simple reason that he'd end up 'second guessing' himself.

Which makes perfect sense to me.

I'm kinda glad about that. I like my rock stars detached from the fan base.

I like it when artists respond to fans on-line. I know Bill Janovitz does it on his site and some Luna members respond to the mailing list. Though I don't know these people personally I would hesitate to call them "unstable" or "insecure"
