In their 100 Best Rock Recordings of 2006, the editors of Amazon.com have rated That Striped Sunlight Sound at #42. Yes, it is behind lesser music by lesser artists, but at least they were not forgotten. http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?re f%5F=amb%5Flink%5F3959232%5F1&docId=1000 031031&plpage=2 |

Proving, perhaps, that someone has to die for great artists to start getting the recognition they deserve? |

Glad to see they're in there, however you slice it and however they're placed...weird innit, that their last release turned out to be so summational, i.e. the ethos-defining title, the Acoustic Stories section? |

I just read the Amazon description carefully for the first time..."kings of intelligent jangle pop"? I don't know that jangle is a word I'd ever use to describe the Go-Betweens. Even when these mainstream sources finally recognize the group, they get it wrong. "The Striped Sunlight Sound" remains the best description. Hey, LK, what did you think of that Travis Dubya guy's review? Pretty insightful, huh? |
