I love movies that feature food. Here are some of my favorites. 1. Big Night Italian food at it's best. Two brothers struggle to keep their exclusive menu 1950's New Jersey Italian restaurant open, while the generic menu Italian restaurant down the street is packed with customers every night. Suburb acting by the whole cast. 2. Eat, Drink, Man, Woman. Early Ang Lee movie shot in Taiwan. I get hungry for Chinese food just thinking about this movie. 3. Diner Only a quarter of the movie is shot in the Diner, but the movie revoles around it. This movie really needs an upgraded DVD version. Lot's of the 1980's movie stars got their start with this movie. |

For a second, Michael, I thought you meant when the movie theater itself served you food. Which idea I love - there used to be a theater in Louisiana where you could, like, have an oyster po-boy and a beer, while you watched your movie. I always thought that was just the coolest... But anyways, now that I understand the exercise, howzabout "The Cook, the Thief, the Lover and His Wife"? It very definitely featured food though not in an appealing way. Also, my favorite movie, "The Godfather". Supposedly if you make pasta per the recipe Clemenza gives in the movie, it comes out pretty good. |

How about "My Dinner with Andre?" I think it's the only movie I've been to where one of the persons seeing it with me got up in the middle and went outside to smoke a cigarette. |

Michael, by the look of it you have already walked away with most obscure question on the board to date for 2007 award, congratulations! |

Thanks Spence! Everyone has a target to shoot for now to top my topic. Speaking of obscure, I just ordered Camera Obscura - "Let's Get Out of This Country". Also Beirut - "The Gulag Orkestar". Both of these made appearances in out Best of 2006 lists I believe. |

"Babette's Feast" is another one that I want to check out as well as John B's "Delicatessen", which is finally available on DVD. Mystic Pizza has some nice performances by Annabeth Gish, Vincent D'Onofrio and Lili Taylor. I'm not a fan of Julia Roberts though. How she ever ended up in "Michael Collins" is beyond me. Thankfully she is only in a few scences. |

there's "Dinner Rush", which was set over one evening is a restaurant and is very good. Although probably the best food movie I've seen is "What's Cooking" from, I think, probably 1999 or 2000. It follows four families, one Asian, one Mexican, one black and one white, as they prepare their thanksgiving meal. It's _very_ good, and you leave the cinema feeling very hungry. And, of course, there's "Chocolat". Mmmmm |
