After having read Robert Forster's brilliant article on Dylan and his words about Grant in The Monthly, and his short story in Meanjin, I want to read more (than has been published on line by The Monthly.com.au).

Looking at The Monthly's site I see that Robert has written about a lot of things I'd love to read about. Has anybody the opportunity to share the articles on Smog (in a way a not too far relative in terms of aesthetics), Cat Power, Sleepy Jackson etc. It is already time for an Robert Forster Anthology Vol. 1!

Issue 15 August 2006. Robert Forster on the weird and wonderful world of Perth band The Sleepy Jackson.

Issue 10 Marck 2006. Robert Forster compares new albums by Beth Orton and Cat Power.

Issue 9 Feb 2006. Robert Forster revels in Neil Diamond's surprising return to form.

Issue 8 December 2005—January 2006. Robert Forster looks at Franz Ferdinand, the band that is changing the rock song.

Issue 4 August 2005. Robert Forster on Smog.

I'd ove a book of Robert's music writing. One thing I really like about Robert is that he's someone who is still really passionate about new music.

Does anyone read the monthly? If so, what did Robert say about wincing the night away by the shins?

Thanks for the link, Matsrep. While in Australia, I picked up a few issues of the Monthly, and enjoyed it, not only for Robert's articles. I meant to check out getting a subscription sent to Ireland, but it slipped my mind. I'd love to read his short story - I'd imagine his fiction writing would be wonderful.

Geez, I'm enjoying RF's articles just for their titles alone. An online subscription is so tempting, but will any of the rest of the Monthly mean anything to a Yank?

I just had a great read, going through Robert's articles that are marked "free" on the link provided by Matsrep. It's particularly amazing that he was able to be such an engaging and good-natured writer in the second half of 2006. A life-saving diversion, perhaps.

Me too, but I was bummed that his take on the Phil Spector trial was not available. I'd love to see what Forster's take on that clusterf--k is...
