4th anniversary of Bush declaring "Mission Accomplished", in his fashion forward flight suit/cod piece ensemble...

He's going to celebrate by vetoing the bill providing funding for the war, because it has "strings attached", or what you and I might call "benchmarks".

I'm going to celebrate by playing Elvis Costello's "Tramp the Dirt Down". Different situation, but the feeling's largely the same...

I also meant to post this quote by the great man, by which I ironically mean Bush, which I think says it all:

"Fool me once........shame....shame on you?" pause "Fool me......you can't fool me again."

Didn't he tack a "won't get fooled again" at the end of that quote? I always assumed that it was a blip from the past from his frat boy days, when he and his buds were drunk-driving around town screaming along to classic rock on the radio.

That whole business is just one glaring example of why this administration is so hated...the Mission Accomplished is so patently see-through, but they hold you in such contempt they don't even care that you know they're full of shit - they're just going to do what they want.

His smug grin, that is when he's not looking totally bumfuzzled, says it all, doesn't it? It was an incredibly transparent strategy, that thankfully, has come back to bite him in the ass...But his contempt, and whole PT Barnum never give a sucker an even break is infuriating...

Yeah, David, that's the spirit. I should put that on. I celebrated - albeit accidentally - on the way back from the 'burbs today with Public Enemy's "Fight the Power." The iPod knows, folks.

"Elvis was a hero to most/But he never meant s**t to me/He was a straight-out racist/The sucker was simple and plain/Motherf**k him and John Wayne."

Latest on that imitation Heir Apparent: he just vetoed the bill tying monetary aid for the troops in Iraq to their withdrawal.

Lord! why must the situation continue to be antagonized like this? It's only making things worse. I saw a bumper sticker today that read 'We're making enemies faster than we can kill them'. A large percentage of the American people including myself have said loud and clear that Bush is not speaking for us. I resigned myself to his tunnel vision long ago, and am never able to listen to the same old broken record speeches any more.

The Dems have to keep hammering at Bush. Eventually they will get enough Republican defectors who are facing re-election that will sign a compromise bill with benchmarks, enough to overide another Bush veto. Speaking of vetos, maybe there is a Vito who could do the United States a favor and whack the boss? I've about had enough of his smug grin as well as you have LK. That and his constant wave to his delusional minions.
