I was in a store recently and I heard a song I'm pretty sure sounded like Robert Forster. Nobody in the store seemed to know anything about it. The lyrics mentioned something about "another lousy summer."

Does anyone recall a lyric like that and what the song might be?

It's funny - 'jug of wine' and 'warm nights' crossed my mind also but there's no reference to a lousy summer in the lyrics. In fact the lyrics suggest a rather fine summmer.

Tom - I'M PRETTY SURE YOU ARE REFERRING TO A B-SIDE TAKEN FROM THE GBs SINGLE, "GOING BLIND" - ANOTHER MINOR GEM FROM FORSTER CALLED (I THINK) "GIRL ACROSS THE WAY".

ON SECOND THOUGHTS, I THINK IT'S CALLED NOT "GIRL....." BUT "WOMAN ACROSS THE WAY". ALL THE OTHER INFORMATION IS CORRECT. THE SONG APPEARS TO BE ABOUT A WOMAN ON A BALCONY BY HERSELF, "SITTING ON A STOOL", "WEARING A BRIGHT RED JUMBER / EVEN THOUGH IT'S NOT COOL" (!!) WHILST HINTING AT MARITAL UNHAPPINESS - "SHE LIVES IN A BIG HOUSE / BUT SHE'S OUT ON HER OWN". HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE, TOM. I'M IN A RUSH!
