Not a great fan of Beefheart, but definitely a big fan of Robyn Hitchcock, Andreas. I was lucky enough to see him supporting R.E.M. last month & he was excellent. Not only is he similar a stage presence but he also has an eaay going warmth not unlike Mr Forster. |

I was at that gig Jerry. I'm a big fan of Robyn Hitchcock - if I'm being really honest though, I thought that John Paul Jones was under-reahearsed for the gig. But I'm not sure how spontanious that duo idea was? I guess it was great just to have Jones on stage (although personally I never got into Led Zepplin). Hitchcock's performance was ruined by a French couple near me talking loudly especially during 'Television'. My girlfriend who was next to me (and also French) looked at me and then gave them a verbal blast! Not sure what she said but I don't think it was very polite :-) Did you hear the commotion half way through the set? I think someone was ejected from the venue! I liked Hitchcocks quip 'Somebody must have let Moby in'. |

Oh yeah, Matt. That lady went absolutely apeshit. I thought John Paul Jones was excellent on the 1st few songs than started to get a bit shaky with the longer material. BTW did you catch the name of the sax player? Terry... something? Who was the best thing about the Duke Spirit set & joined the Venus 3 at the end. Everyone seemed to be a bit in awe of him. |
