What do you think? I don't care if I have to make another road trip to Chicago, but I'm going if he stops anywhere in the mid west. |

He has stated many times that he doesn't like touring, including during the "Four Ages" shows in Brisbane last year. And remember, he has a family now. There would need to be some good sales here to induce him, I'd think. Are there good sales of GoBees releases here? I was mortified by the tiny venue they played in Los Angeles in 2005. It was a lovely chance for me to see them up close, but . . . . |

Here's my plea for Robert et al. to come to Detroit. Last tour they skipped the MOtor City and came closest to Chicago which I missed unfortunately. I know that there are at least four metro Detroiters (Michael, Austin, me, Nick) who would attend and we promise to bring a friend or two. Also, I'll extend the offer to feed the band and/or select great restaurants (Traffic Jam & Snug, The Blue Nile, Small Plates) and good places to stay depending on the venue (Magic Bag, The Ark, Emerald Theatre, The Fillmore)as well as some local attractions (Greenfield Village, Comerica Park, the DIA) that Robert, Adele, and Glenn could visit to make their trip memorable and satisfying. How about that for enticement Randy? We can call it The Converted Give Back Tour |

Randy, the Go-Betweens have filled up the decent-sized Slim's up here in SF the last two times they came through, in 2005 and 2001. It's not my favorite venue, but it's certainly nothing to be mortified of (and big enough for Saint Etienne). And the time before that, in '99, Robert and Grant did the acoustic duo thing at SF's beautiful Great American Music Hall, which again was decent-sized (big enough for Wire, Pavement, etc.) and quite full. So, there's definitely a demand in some US cities. My understanding is that Robert wasn't opposed to touring the US, but that it's simply difficult to tour the US for financial and logistical reasons. Everything is so spread out that you have to spend a lot of money and time getting from one gig to the next, and it can be difficult for foreign bands to break even. Surely, the drive from, say, Seattle to Chicago must be a grueling one (point being, where would they play in-between?). But, these days bands make more money from touring than selling records, so since Robert's making part of his living doing this, it seems he'd be inclined to book a tour so long as it keeps him out of the red. After seeing that European schedule though - wow, the thought of hopping over to Florence to see Robert Forster is the stuff good day dreams are made of! |

Ok, maybe a Converted Give Back concept will do it. I could certainly feed them. I could even drive them around until the traffic gives me Tourette's. I could abandon my house to them but it's so tiny it wouldn't serve. Jeff, he could stop in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Don't forget their storied musical tradition! I believe that's where Elizabeth is located (or is she in WI?). But, yeah, our half of the country is pretty barren. Hopefully I'm wrong in my pessimism. Firenze sounds like a great idea. |

Last time they were in New York they sold out two shows, one in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn; so he's welcome here. |

E Weidermeier - I swear I saw something about European dates later in the year, but for the life of me, I can't find where I saw them! So I'm clearly just losing my mind. False alarm! |

Tour dates to be announced in September, apparently. Could be in time for my 50th birthday present to myself... |

An announcement re: Tour dates in September ... that's all a bit too sudden for me, I'm overwhelmed. |

And if Robert, Adele and Glenn want to take a great vacation, I'll show them around Traverse City, it's beautiful bays, great restaurants, and it's 30 wineries. It's my slice of heaven on this earth. |

Stuart, will dates be announced in September, or announced FOR September? :-) Seriously, any confirmed information, preferably with sources, would be most welcome. |

September shows for Europe would make sense, right after the Australian dates in August. |

The European dates are in September/October, according to the listing on Robert's site. |
