Willie Nelson turned 75 today. Happy B-day, sir. Hope you have a good one and smoke an even larger spliff than usual!

And so say all of us...I just ordered his new, darn-good-looking box set and can't wait to dig in.

I hadnt heard that one, David. Funny. I guess Denis Leary hasnt gotten around to stealing that one yet!

The box set ist wunderbar, Master Allan. Tho I have all of the cool, classic albums like Troublemaker and Redheaded Stranger and Phases N Stages, this has tons of stuff from his earlier period back when he had short hair but was still a massive hellion. Plus just about everything great hes ever done, things like his sublime version of "Til I Gain Control Again", which's gotta be one of the most gorgeous songs ever written.

Great booklet comes with too, with reproductions of his 1001 albums covers and pics of Willie with just about every musician ever born. I half expected to see one of him posin with Grant and Robert!

That does sound tasty as all get out...though I thought they would've needed a second booklet for the album cover gallery alone...

Just got the box, and I agree it's quite something. Even way back when he had that almost supernaturally intuitive concision and eloquence. If he'd been born in another place and time he'd probably have been one of the greatest practitioners of haiku ever.

I saw Peter Tosh in concert back in the mid-80s. He walked on stage wearing a dashiki, dark sun glasses, a cain in one hand and puffing on the biggest spliff I've ever seen!
