I opened the newspaper this morning to see the headline "Edwyn Collins in fight for his life." Apparently he "... suffered a cerebral haemorrhage on Sunday night and has been in hospital since, where doctors are trying to stabilise his condition." I know there are many fans on this message board, lets hope he pulls through. |

Thanks pups, I hadn't heard, he's a great talent and always comes across as a very warm, funny, genuine person, his smash hits posters adorned our bedroom walls for a while in the early eighties. I was thrilled to see him in the Baggot Inn in Dublin, April 5th 1992, he almost had to crouch on the low Baggot stage, Roddy Frame guested with him whom he introduced as the lead singer with popular British rock group Iron Maiden! I think his wife played support and sang this song about being in love with that scottish man. He had played again in Dublin a couple of times recently in what was billed as COLLINS V COUSE, a very entertaining evening of Orange Juice, A House and solo songs dueting at times. Hope he keeps on burning. |

Thanks for the news, Pups. I'm upset. I love Orange Juice and Edwyn's 2001 solo record 'Doctor Syntax' is a real favourite. Let's hope he pulls through ok. |

Dear me that's bad news. I always thought Edwyn was one for the ages. Warm Nights may be a self indulgent collection but I loved the fact that Robert and Edwyn were working together on it. And I do like the version of R'n'R Friend they did, I know the purists may sniff but it rocks. |

Here's an update from this mornings paper: "Singer Edwyn Collins has had emergency brain surgery after suffering a haemorrhage last month. The 45-year-old Scottish musician's wife Grace Maxwell said he was recovering and was 'as well as can be hoped for.' Collins, who fronted the band Orange Juice, is in a London hospital while his condition stabilises. Ms Maxwell thanked fans and well-wishers for their 'loving thoughts.' |

Uncut magazine has a small badly timed feature on Postcard records this month. The Go-B's are mentioned briefly, Edwynn is quoted on label boss Alan Horne's reaction to hearing "Hammer The Hammer" when it is proposed as their next single. "This is like "Muscle Bound" by Spandau fuckin' Ballet! They've gone fuckin' New Romantic! |

The word from Edwyn's website is good and it looks like he will pull through. Hallelujah. |

Neil, spot on fella. Hopefully, Edwyn is heading Upwards and Onwards.. Grace gives us the latest.. Dear All This is the most relaxed I've felt about giving you news since this all began. I think we can say that Edwyn is now virtually out of immediate danger. We are organising his next move, to intensive neuro rehabilitation, which should happen in the next few weeks at the latest. This is a tough challenge, but you know he's beaten the odds already and I fully expect him to go on in his customary stubborn manner. He is aware of the wonderful support he has received and I'm printing all the messages out so he can read them when he is able in the near future. If you wish, you can send cards to him at: West Heath Studios, West Heath Yard, 174 Mill Lane, London, NW6 1TB. Meanwhile, his doctors are delighted and a bit confounded at his progress. He's Edwyn. Love to you all Grace |
