I like it. It's got a cohesive 'band' sound, just like the older records; And there's a groove there that I haven't heard before. - and is that really a theremin I hear in the mix towards the end of the track. | ||

Thanks for the link Cichili. Jerry, I tried the right click action yesterday, and the dialogue box comes up with Quicktime options and a line saying "open this link" but it still won't work. No hand appears at all when I hover over the camera icon or anywhere on the writing and yet it works for the mp3s on the same page. Weird. I will now watch the clip. | ||

Love this song. It's just got to be a hit and I'm usually realistic about Go-Bs singles. Great clip too. Anyone know who directed it? Great use of therimin at the end there which I'm thinking would have been Glenn's idea. | ||

i would agree with the last few posts. nice video clip for sure, but the song is pretty average. like many of their post-reformation songs, it's just crying out for a more melodic arrangement. except for robert's lyrics and typically forster-esque vocal delivery, the song could've been written or played by anyone. | ||

Whoa! I didn't say it was shit. I just said that I'm not so sure it's as great as some folks have expressed in their early enthusiasm. I'd also like to point out that hearing it on my tiny crappy laptop speakers is no substitute for the real thing when I get it. And, hey, I always appreciate it when somebody spits out a reference to Dostoevsky although perhaps Robert's plug is not quite as cool as Howard Devoto's "I'd have been another Raskolnikov, but Mother Nature ripped me off" back in his Magazine days. I still very much view the reformation to be a worthwhile endeavor and am looking forward to the album. | ||

i was saying that the song itself, *except* for robert's lyrics and delivery, sounds like it could've been done by anyone. not literally anyone, but it just doesn't sound that distinctive to me, musically. sure, robert makes it a go-betweens songs with said lyrics and delivery, but the *music* supporting robert's schtick doesn't stand out much for me. does that make sense? | ||

It does make sense, just a half-hearted stab at humour. I was very impressed by the film and the song, all based on one viewing, so far. I recall the song left me cold when they played it live last year, so I wasn't expecting much from the studio recording. | ||

I agree totally with Jerry on this one. I always agree with most stuff he says actually. I was totally unmoved by the song at the Barbican but I taped the studio version off a 6 Music broadcast and think its really great. | ||

My first impression is that it's quite urgent (a tremendous change from many tunes off the previous album) but perhaps not the best post-reformation song; For my money, that's 'Unfinished Business'. This one's under so much scrutiny for a pop song: Those poor bastards! Love the delivery of the line about Dostoevsky's readers. From this, I still suspect Oceans Apart will somewhat resemble the past two albums. It's there in the playing, ingrained in the sound which obviously isn't metamorphosing from album to album so beautifully as it once did. But looking too far backwards is no good right now. This one's exciting. Can't wait for O.A. | ||

Well Bryan of the 70s is a great role model for anyone. Certainly worked for me at the time. That white jacket and bow tie, "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall", etc etc. As for within Roxy, that's another story. Eno was the style legend in that band. Never the same after he left. | ||

"Stranded" is a very good Roxy Music album, the first after Eno left. It would be terrible though if RF tried to sound like BF. | ||

I love "Stranded" Jerry, and I think post-Eno Roxy was great... indeed I came to love Roxy from the back end if you like, rather than starting with "Virginia Plain" etc. I was talking about Roxy Music's visual style, which - although BF is great - did tend to bland out after Eno and his feathers disappeared. Of course I didn't think so at the time. Lots of tits and arse on the album covers... Country Life, Stranded... which is probably why my 15 year old eye was so drawn to them. Somehow I think RF and BF will continue to work their own rows. | ||

Dajana, try right-clicking on the link provided by 'Cichli Suite' - approx 9th post down in this list - then from the little sub-menu select 'Save link as...' and then you should be able to choose where you want to save it to. For the record I think it's quite a sprightly little number - overall, par for the course really. | ||

I thought the vid lame (for example - the lightbulb thing at the start - a bit obvious), but then the GBs are not exactly known for their cinematic achievements. The song is not great. Grant's backing vocals sound a little dated. I'm not that happy - the latest new order chune don't light my fire either. I hope the new LPs from the bands will lift my spirits. | ||

If you're not happy then I strongly recommend that you buy the "Arcade Fire" album "funeral" to cheer you up. That will rekindle your faith in music! [ There are also some fine tracks on the New Order album ( title track in particular) though its patchy! ] | ||

I like Bright Eyes, but if you want contrived Hope Of The States "The Lost Riots" sets the standard. An awful self indulgent album! |
