Anyone heard the track Dilaudid from upcoming Mountain Goats album Sunset Tree? Very, very reminiscent of Go B's, complete with a driving violin track closely resembling 'Was There Anything I Could Do?' and a Forster-style vocal which mimics his intonation and deadpan delivery-highly recommended.

As a pretty big GBs fan and a sometime collaborator of John Darnielle's, I surmise that the resemblance is accidental. John probably knows some of the GBs work, but I've never known either him or the producers (John Vanderslice and Scott Solter) to be enthusiasts. I daresay the arrangement on that track is more of an "Eleanor Rigby" thing, worked out in the studio b/c an excellent cellist was available; I agree that the underlying chord progression has a RF ring to it, but it could also be compared to several Smiths songs.
