I have to bring this back into play as I told Amanda tonight she has to visit the site because people are asking questions. Another question Amanda may have missed is about what she thinks of Tallulah. And some time ago someone asking about her last album.

Yeah whatever happened to Boxcar?? They had certainly listened to a few New Order records but nothing wrong with that. Insect and Gas Stop I recall having on a lovely big 12 inch.

Oooh, and Lisa you say this is with Amanda singing. Excellent.

Volition were a great label, are they still viable? They had the wonderful Severed Heads on their roster. The Heads have just done some soundtrack work in Australia for a film called The Illustrated Family Doctor. The first I'd heard of Tom Allard for a long time.

I think the lead singer fell out with everybody around him when he realised that people loved him cos he had a publishing deal. He wrote the theme to "Water-Rats ".

Volition . Interesting story . I think the MD bankrupted then got his 18 year old girlfriend to buy a Sydney Harbourside mansion while his label roster starved .

Severed Heads still kicking along . Toms a maverick . He never wrote Dead Eyes Open . I think thats hard to live with .

Robert Racic ( long dead Aids casualty record producer/nasty brain tumour ) from Sydney . He was the soundsmith behind Volition and is possibly the most under-rated disco producer of all time . Tom gets alot of credit for what is Roberts sound . Cokla Koma is a better example of where Mr Ellards head is at . "France Detonates Love" being one of the greatest anti-war songs ever written and nobody sings .

I heard Amanda did this gig for the cash . She did the vocal in 20 minutes and left . Adrian Boland mixed and mastered it . Too bright .

Ok Lindy, I'm replying! Amanda Brown here.
Yes, that's me singing Olive. While it was recorded with relative speed, I do not do any music just for the money. That is why I also have a part time job as a librarian. I like Boxcar and they were great to work with.
My other forays into electronica include work with Australian artist David Bridie last year on his tour and album titled 'Hotel Radio'. David is also a prolific film music composer and producer. I also write music for film and television.

Indeed. Can't think of many sites that would have three former members contributing in such a nice way. I think John Wilsteed might have posted before too? Just finished watching the REM 'Road Movie' DVD - is that Amanda on violin? Very jealous of you playing in my 2 favourite bands.

Too true Cameron, Racic was a genius, I had forgotten his significance in the whole SH story.

I saw SH "live" in 1988 and I still recall it as one of the strangest and most memorable musical events of that time.

Yeah. I love the dignity in which some Aussie artists dwell. Especially the likes of Racic , Ellard . Totally over-looked by history but seminal in influencing other artists who through sheer geography and size of publishing deal can take all the cake . I would have included the Gobetweens in that 7 years ago but I got the feeling RF n GM are doing all right for themslves these days . peace .
