Now, when I first saw your post, I thought, wait a minute, the Specials have been reforming continually for the past decade and a half with Roddy Radiation handling Terry Hall's vocals. But it looks like Hall will be back in the line-up, which I guess is pretty newsworthy. Now, if only they'd have a Fun Boy Three line-up.

have heard about a reunion with the original line up a few month ago or so. but like so often nothing happened resp. i never heard again anything. now, it looks like it really will happen. even when the mastermind will not be on board it will be a great event. hope that they also will find their way to berlin, that would be great.

a FB3 reunion would be great, too. i remember a terry hall gig in berlin as a support for dave stewart. small crowd celebrated the man and his music. the main audience wasn't interest in Terry Hall and so a small crowd celebrated the man and his music. at the time the main act began to play those few people went away in the back and just hoped that terry hall would come on stage to perform the song they edid together. it didn't happened. this short terry hall gig was one of my concert highlights ever. but i think i told the whole story somewhere sometime at this forum, spo i don't want to bore you longer.

Andrew....Ouch !! indeed.
I've managed to get tickets for Manchester, so next year really is looking promising after a very tame 23 gigs in 2008.

Cheers

I thought when I heard they had first got together again that it would be emotional. But without Jerry, its unemotional. I hear he''s a bit of a bitter twat 'ol Jerry, but him not being there is just as ridiculous as most reformations without original members (save for Magazine, although Noko is on guitar, and I'm a rouch bised and hypocritical I suppose, its not the same).

I heard that Jerry wanted some serious rehearsals to ensure the band sounded as good as possible which was not what the others had in mind, take the money etc

Yes Cosmo, that's the problem, Chinese whispers etc, its hard to make out what goes behind the scenes, the way its filtered through the press. I dare say its a pain for all concerned, both parties are probably at total odds with one another.
Dammers is obviously pissed.

Funny you mention, Magazine went through a similar thing, the revival was originally on the cards, or talked bout 3 or 4 years ago. I know this from the guy who was orginally put forward for guitar duties. However, apparently, Devoto wanted many rehersals and gigs, rather than just one comeback gig, whereas everyone else didn;t. So the idea was parked. Then years later, its back on, I wonder if they resolved the rehearsing issue then!

I am with Dammers on this, it also seems that the fact that it was his band unquestionably is what may have caused the split the first time around and they are now all too old to re-enter a dictatorship of any form especially as they can get lots of money as a bloody cabaret act without him. I have no doubt that Mr Dammers is a difficult character but am certain that his vision of the band in the 21st Century is a more valid and valuable artistic proposition than the first album karaoke version which will be touring.
