There was an amusing cover story on the Go-Betweens in today's Beat magazine (a weekly Melbourne free street paper) that mentioned this MB. The article was written by regular Shane Moritz, a buddy of David Nichols who also regularly contributes to the paper. Despite their friendship, and the fact that he's obviously a big fan of the band himself, Moritz manages to mispell "McLennan" (as McClennan) at every chance. No big deal, just found it strange. Moritz--who also wrote the album of the week review of OA in the same issue--quoted the hilarious on-line exchange between James and the notorious post-coital regarding Glenn Thompson's drumming over Lindy's, and, of course, the sexual sloppiness of his rival's mother. Moritz: "At www.go-betweens.net, the chat board heats up on a regular basis. Critical thinkers [I once regrettably used this term in praise of the interesting contributions to this MB--I wonder if he was having a dig?] jockey for supremacy using vast intellectual knowledge and merciless debate." I would not, having read much of Moritz's perculiar brand of gonzo-journalism, put it past him to be the "MILF" poster himself. You can read his interesting album review (though not the story) at: www.beat.com.au Dig the photo of Robert and Grant on the cover too! |
