I read this yesterday and am very sad, I thought Chemical Chords was a good album and it soundtracked the end of last summer for me. There was some debate on this board last year about their 'relevance' but I was happy just knowing they were out there |

Yeah, actually, totally agree, just 'being there' helps us retain some sanity... |

After the Gobs and the Egyptians broke up in the early 90's, Stereolab and My Bloody Valentine were probably my two favorite bands with Slowdive and the Pale Saints not too far behind. |

Stereolab was one of the few bands that made the 90s bearable. That decade proved to be so abysmal, musically, and Stereolab offered something truly beautiful, smart, and distinctive. But I honestly feel like they've needed to call it a day for a while, they've become such a self-parody. They're 10 years past their prime, imo. Whereas in the 90s they were continually evolving and honing their sound, for the past decade they've been stuck on auto-pilot. Maybe a hiatus, along with some diverse non-Stereolab projects, will reinvigorate the creative juices? |
