Does anyone know if a vinyl release is likely?

Cheers

PAul.

Yes Paul. In fact, there are to be two vinyl releases of OA. The german pressing is already out (so says www.amazon.de though I can't find any information about it on the record label's, Tuiton, website). A US release is planned for May 17 on Yep Roc records though you'd think you'd be able to pre-order it by now so I'm thinking there might be a hold up with that one.

It would be nice to find out if there's any chance the vinyl release will lose some or all of the distortion that plagues the CD before any of us pre-order it. In the other thread, people didn't sound too optmistic that the vinyl would be any different, since the "official word" is that the band is satisfied with the present mastering. Which would make buying the vinyl a ridiculous waste of money...

At least you could pretend the needle has a big ol' booger-sized wad of dust on it, justifying the distortion. Ahhh... the good old days.

I ordered a vinyl copy from Rough Trade last week (www.roughtrade.com) and it arrived within 3 days. Can't actually play it at the moment so can't tell you how it sounds! They have the album listed as "Album of the Month" too.

I bought the vinyl today and have yet to get it out of its shrink-wrap, but rest assured it does exist on vinyl. The cover makes Forster look more like Klaus Kinski in Nosferatu than what the CD cover does- that I can acertain.

OK - does it sound identical to the cd or have they done a better job? Anyone?
