OK, not the most essential interview, as Jonathan Ross clearly knows nothing about the Go-Betweens, and he's far too fond of the sound of his own voice in any event. That said there's a lovely acoustic version of 'Finding you', and if you'd like to hear this and the rest of it in something approaching quality (192Kbps MP3), it's here: http://s24.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=147NGIFKWG0XV0GJKN9L0XCVPW It'll be there for a week or so. Dial-up users make yourselves a cup of tea - file size is approx 16Mb. Enjoy! |

Thanks Jaz, Mr Jonathan's ignorance is a bit embarrassing, but on the whole it's a funny interview and the version of "Finding You" is excellent! |

J. Ross has brought a lot of relatively unknown bands to prime time Radio 2. He might not have known their inside leg measurements, but who does, and who cares? He lets the music speak for itself. |

> J. Ross has brought a lot of relatively unknown bands to prime time Radio 2. Sorry to disappoint but the choice of guests and music has more to do with the programme's production staff and station music policy than the floppy fringed one himself. Of course he won't be an expert on every artist he interviews, but as his producer will provide him with briefing notes surely it's not too much to expect him to read them? |

Jaz, no need to be sorry. I'm not at all disappointed Ross acknowledged at the start of the show that Andy Davis (producer) was key in getting the Go-Betweens on the show, Davis had been enthusing about them since previous week. It's a very popular show because people like J. Ross and the music he plays. The audience are not looking for in-depth, or even superficial interviews, just a bit of chat. If it was any different, it would have less listeners and it would then not be such a good show-case for lesser known bands. I'm sure that the Go-Betweens understood this, they seemed to enjoy the style, and that's mainly what the vast majority want from this sort of show. |

I thought it was a funny interview they were all having a laugh and enjoyed it when Ross jokingly assumed that RF and GM were "an old gay couple". Robert replied that they had been trying to hide it from the press, and Grant added that they received some 'looks' when walkling along Brighton pier. The fact that he new nothing about them didn't really matter as it was only a 15 minute spot and they played 'Finding You' really well. |
