had an incredibly vivid dream last night which, for the most part, involved the upcoming GB's Barbican gig. Annoyingly I saw nothing of the main act (ain't it always the way). What I did see were the Special Guests:- first up was Neil Finn kicking off the show with camped up rendition of the Stones' Don't Stop-better than it sounds, honest. Then enter Lou Reed with a killer version of 8 Pictures featuring Lindy on drums a la Mo T. The stage revolved to reveal French band Phoenix who eased from their own So Young into I Just Get Caught Out. As Mike Nesmith (our compere for the evening) introduced Nick Cave, picking out the intro to Fingers, I was awoken by the urgent need for a piss-goddam you middle age.If any other users get access this dream (nightmare) gig over the next few nights please tell me what I missed..... |

Lou Reed and Lindy on 8 Pictures. Cosmic! Also, you need to take less drugs. |

Funnily enough I also dreamt about it last night, must be the combination of reading David's book and eating a cheese sandwich just before I went to bed. Madness played Embarrassment and Our House and we thought how bad the atmosphere was at the Barbican, our third row seats were miles from the stage, everyone was comfortably seated and politely applauding - got to admit this is something I'm a little worried about, but no need for anxiety attacks! |

C Gull, I must admit that I was kind of non-plussed when I found out the venue was the Barbican, although in fairness the band could have nominated any building in Britian and it would be a bonus. My first and only experience of the venue was to watch the Jayhawks round off a "Beyond Nashville" week. (it's off topic but to me the Jayhawks are a fine band: I'd like to think they'd go down well with a Go B's crowd)In short the mild mannered Jayhawks lead singer shouted to the mainly austere crowd to "Liven up! there are too many suits in here". Later I discovered a bloke in the row below me was head in hands asleep mid set! I know a GB's crowd will do better, although I expect at 27, I may one of the younger audience members. |
