Fantastic that the GBs are playing Perth again, their new album is one of their best. BUT,the date they are playing is July 21, the same date that Interpol are playing in Perth: same suburb even. I'd already brought my ticket for Interpol by the time the GB show as announced. We get very few 'big name' bands that come to Perth, now here is a very occurence of 2 desirable bands playing at the same time!

I saw Interpol open for The Pixies last week. They only played three songs off of Turn on the Bright Lights and pretty much all of Antics. I heard this is the most part expected of them nowadays. So if you don't like Antics...it shouldn't be hard to decide :-) Good luck!

Nick, though I understand your desire to see a different interesting band in a rare appearance in Perth, a couple of thoughts: (1) Being a young, "careerist" band, Interpol is probably more likely to play there again in the next two or three years than the GoBs, who tend to go dormant for long periods, at least live. (2) I have several friends who are big fans of Interpol's albums and saw them live this year. To a person, they all said the band was very disappointing in concert; everything sounds exactly as on the records and the band's stage show conveys a distinct lack of enthusiasm. Obviously, being on this message board I'm biased, but I think the GoBs are the better choice.

Fun Fact: Daniel Kessler from Interpole worked on The Lost Album when he did retail at Jetset.
