PHISHING ATTACKS Dear all >>Possible phishing attacks using addresses of Go-Betweens message board users<< Some members of this site have reported receiving 'phishing' emails (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phishing) sent to email addresses that they used to register with the message board. It is possible that the people responsible for the phishing emails have used email addresses displayed on the message board as a source of email adresses to use, as recipients and/or as fake 'senders'. These emails may appear to come from a name familiar to you from your use of the message board, perhaps in an attempt to increase your trust in the content of the email. It is likely that the phishing email contains a web link which should NOT be followed. If you have received such an email please delete it. ACTIONS REQUIRED BY YOU: You are able to choose to have your email address displayed with your postings on the site by editing your account profile. If you are happy with your current arrangement, you need to do nothing. However, if you wish to hide or remove your email address from the board: 1. Go to www.go-betweens.org.uk/chatroom 2. Select 'edit profile' on the list of menu items on the left hand side of the page 3. Log in 4. Once you have logged in you can either: (i) under 'Information About You': completely remove your email address from your profile, or (ii) under 'Preferences': check the box 'Do not display my real e-mail address with my profile' Note that if your email address is completely removed, it will not be possible to send you emails from this message board in the future, or for other members to find your personal email address. If you would like me to change your email setting for you, send me an email with your name and/or email address used to create your account, and your preference for 'do not display' or complete removal of the address. Apologies for the website downtime on 22nd-23rd March 2012. This was due to problems at the site's web hosting company, which they claim have now been resolved. A copy of this site is held on a backup server, which will become the 'live' server if necessary. Thank you for your continued support of this site. | ||
