I'm planning my husband's 40th birthday party. It will be a knees up bash at one of Brisbane's more eclectic music venues. Of course the music played will be all his favourites naturally centred on The Go-Betweens. I'm wanting to make the invitations to the party a gig ticket. Any suggestions for a Go-Bee's lyric about ageing that might be appropriate for the front cover?

This is off the top of my head, but there are those lines from "The Clock":

"And then the clock turns/And it's now/And it you, you, you."

It's not so much about aging, I guess, but it may be apropos. You also might want browse the lyric sections, which is linked from www.go-betweens.net.

Boundary Rider is, in its crypto-Zen way, almost completely about aging, so take your pick of lines from it: "you reach for things/you're never satisfied/you're running down the years" or "then comes the day you ride to stop them getting in".

If the dude's truly a fan he'll get it!
