From The Courier-Mail, Brisbane, Qld.,Australia:
WEIRD old night in the Valley on Wednesday. There were a lot of people partying like it was 1983. The Go-Betweens were first, playing a private show at the Moon Bar. They were showcasing tracks from their new album, Oceans Apart, which comes out on May 1. Lanky, grim-faced frontman Robert Forster prefaced the six-song set by telling the audience how they heard one of their new songs, Finding You, playing on the radio on Wednesday afternoon. It wasn't playing on Triple Z or Triple J, but 612 ABC. "Kelly Higgins-Divine loves this song," he said, before launching into it. Big wraps. Later that night, you could catch Ed Kuepper, formerly of that other seminal Brisbane band of the 1970s and '80s The Saints, at The Troubadour. He's been doing a residency there you see. His last show there is next Wednesday. You can also catch The Go-Bees on May 1 at Rockinghorse, before they bugger off to Europe where they're actually rather popular.
